How to convert currency

  1. 1

Choose the source and destination currencies, then enter the amount.

Wait for the public reference rate to load, or click Refresh market rate.

  3. 3

Optionally edit the rate to match a bank quote, then swap currencies if needed.

Understanding reference exchange rates

By default this tool loads a public reference rate from Frankfurter (ECB daily rates). If that request fails, it falls back to the open currency-api CDN. Both sources are planning references — banks, cards and payment apps may add fees or spreads. Edit the rate field whenever you need a specific quote. Related planning tools include the salary calculator and loan calculator.

Common conversions

Example Notes
USD → EUR Uses the latest ECB reference rate when available
Manual override Edit the rate field to match your bank or invoice
Refresh market rate Reloads Frankfurter, then currency-api fallback
Swap currencies Reloads the market rate unless you are in manual mode
Fees & spreads Not included — add them separately for real costs

Frequently asked questions

Where do the exchange rates come from?

The converter first requests Frankfurter (European Central Bank daily reference rates). If that fails, it falls back to the open fawazahmed0 currency-api CDN listed in public-apis.

Are these live bank quotes?

No. They are public reference rates for planning. Retail FX quotes often include fees, spreads or card markups that this tool does not apply.

Can I enter my own rate?

Yes. Edit the rate field at any time. Click Refresh market rate to discard the override and reload a public reference rate.

What does “1 FROM = RATE TO” mean?

It means one unit of the source currency buys the entered number of destination-currency units. The amount is multiplied by that rate.

Does the result include bank fees?

No. The conversion uses only the displayed rate. Add any provider fees or spreads separately.
